Considered the finest panels
available for residential and commercial construction, Cedar
Valley Shingle Panels are handcrafted with the highest grades of
Western Red Cedar. Each panel is constructed with a solid
one-piece plywood backer followed by an Elk VersaShield®
moisture barrier that’s waterproof and breathable. And the
construction of our panels is so dependable, they’re certified
to withstand winds up to 196 mph.

There are many other benefits to builders, architects and
homeowners, including:
Savings - Our panels go up an average of six time faster
than individual shingles, dramatically reducing installation
costs.
Easy installation - Overlapping end joints don’t require
caulking and blind nail patterns are available.
Reduced waste - Splitting of individual shingles is
virtually eliminated. And single-course panels reduce waste in
gables and other tight spaces.
Cedar Valley shingle siding panels are made of 100% kiln-dried
clear vertical grain Western Red Cedar shingles . The 8-foot
panels require only seven panels per square (100 sq.ft.)and go
up faster and easier than any other wood or composite horizontal
siding and up to four times faster than individual shingles.
They require 40% less nailing than plywood and average 50% less
nailing than horizontal sidings. Cedar Valley panels also save
time on cuts around doors and windows and on gables.
Full Coverage Backer The one-piece plywood backer is
easier to handle, eliminates the problem of courses breaking
apart and the smooth back surface makes marking and sawing
quicker and more accurate.
Faster Application No matter which exposure or pattern
you choose, 4-inch, 5-inch or 7-inch, regular or Decorator
shingles, each panel requires only 14 nails to cover 14.25 sq.
ft.
Added Moisture Protection An Elk Versashield fiberglass
mat laminate is an integral part of a totally waterproof and
breathable siding system. Iinterleaved under each shingle
course, it prevents moisture reaching the sheathing whether
through damage, splits or other causes.
Quality Assurance The panels have evaluation reports (ER)
from ICBO, SBCCI and BOCA as your assurance they meet the
industry's standards of quality, and all applicable building
codes.
Design Flexibility 4-inch, 5-inch. or 7-inch exposures in
regular or Decorator shingles provide an exclusive range of
options in a multi-course panel.
Real Shingles=Real Shingle Look Cedar Valley makes real
tapered shingles and lays them up by hand like real shingles
with real overlap and real keyways, and with a full 5/16" butt
thickness for a bold shadow line.

Exclusive Interlocking End Joints One of the advantages
of Cedar Valley shingle panels is the interlocking end joint.
The patented feature covers each vertical joint with a cedar
shingle which prevents water penetration. It also avoids the
"panel look" of end-butted panels and eliminates caulking.
Stiff Panels The panel backer is a full 5/16"-thick
plywood sheathing. In addition to the plywood, the overlaps of
shingle courses create at least two horizontal bands of double
lamination for a panel stiffness which conceals many wall
irregularities.
Moisture Protection Sheathing is 5/16" exterior plywood
to protect against moisture penetration from the outside or
condensation from the inside.
Double Fastening In addition to a flexible adhesive bead,
concealed staples hold shingles from both the front and back,
hidden from sight and weather. The glue and staples hold the
shingles firmly, yet allow them to move so contraction and
expansion is not transferred to the backer.
Direct To Stud Application Panels can be applied direct
to studs 16" OC over a vapor barrier and/or rigid foam, reducing
sheathing costs where codes allow engineered shear option.
(Cedar Valley panels do not provide shear values.)

Self-Aligning Feature Panels need only an occasional
level check once the bottom row is perfectly placed. The bevel
edge helps hold each panel in place for precise adjustment to
the indented guideline on straight buttline panels.
Energy Efficient The average thickness of panels equals
3/4" of laminated wood, one of nature's best insulators.
Combined with dead air spaces created by overlapping shingles,
it provides added insulation.
Individual Shingles Laid up by hand with natural keyway
separation, any damaged shingles can be replaced to retain
original appearance.
Takes Stain Or Paint Better The cross-grain sawing
creates a natural shingle surface which, combined with the
vertical grain cedar used, allows stain to penetrate deeper and
paint to cover evenly.
Flush Corners One of two prefabricated corner options,
flush corners provide a neat appearance. Add-on corners are also
available to fit all exposures. Both use a Boston Weave
construction for strength, and are manufactured to match the
style, exposure and texture of the panel ordered.
